Greetings,
In this edition, please make sure you read the important message from the Executive Director below.
We have a new name for the newsletter! A contest was held for a new name. Although two people submitted a very good name with “FOWA Forum,” that happens to be the name of the bulletin board on FOWA’s web site. Therefore, the winner of the Name FOWA’s newsletter contest is Ted Takasaki of Old Bayside-Lindy, who came up with the title FOWA Market Edge. Ted will be receiving $50 in FOWA bucks. You can receive FOWA bucks as well, by referring members to FOWA. If you refer an active member, you will receive $25 in FOWA bucks and a corporate member is worth $50. FOWA bucks can be used for membership fees, conference registrations and even auction items at conferences.
We are beginning to work on the new FOWA directory. If you have any further changes to your directory bio for the upcoming directory, please send them to me at KJBraden1@aol.com.
Check out the website at www.fowa.org to see the new FOWA bulletin board where you can post your thoughts, share your ideas on how to improve FOWA and exchange market needs. Thanks to Pam & Mike Richards for their continued good work as our web masters.

Message from the Executive Director:
February 1 Deadline
For the final time (for the procrastinators), your membership renewal to FOWA must be received by Feb. 1 in order to be in the new 2006-2007 directory. If you miss the deadline, your membership will have expired. Renewal letters were mailed to all Active and Corporate members on Dec. 15, and notices since then have appeared in the FOWA Market Newsletter.
If your membership arrives after Feb. 1, you may reapply for membership but will miss inclusion in the new directory -- we send the directory database to the printer on Thursday, Feb. 2, and cannot "hold the presses" or make changes thereafter.
To ensure beating the deadline, you can email the renewal form back or fax it. Email me at doug7kelly@yahoo.com and I'll send a reply with the form if you don't have it, or the fax number is 813-385-3858.
Good tides,
Doug Kelly, Executive Director

Brainerd, MN - Ted Takasaki, President of Lindy - Little Joe, Inc. has announced the acquisition of the assets of Tamer Fishing Products from JNB Originals, Inc.
The Tamer Fishing Product line includes the patented Wave Tamer drift socks and Tamer Bait Storage bags including the patented Bait Tamer, Leech Tamer, Lil Leech Tamer and Commercial Bait Storage containers.
According to Takasaki, Tamer Fishing Products is a natural addition to Lindy due to the recent acquisition of the Drift Control brand of drift socks in February, 2005. The combination of Drift Control and the patented Wave Tamer drift socks make Lindy the undisputed leader in the fast growing drift control product category.
Drift socks are just beginning to gain the recognition they deserve when it comes to drifting saltwater flats. The Wave Tamer line of drift socks are made of a special polyester fabric which resists the damaging effects of saltwater.
JNB revolutionized bait storage in the mid 90’s when it developed their unique line of soft, collapsible, mesh Tamer Bait Storage containers. Tamer Bait Storage products are now included as standard equipment by many of the leading fishing boat manufacturers in both fresh and salt water markets.
Takasaki also announced that Joe Beech, President of the Tamer Group, has entered into a consulting contract with Lindy in order to provide product development and promotional consulting services for the Tamer product lines. “This is an exciting day as the combined companies will now be able to deliver on bringing the benefits of using drift socks to the average angler.” Joe added.
Lindy brands include: Lindy, Little Joe, Thill, Beckman Nets, Drift Control, Old Bayside, NO-SNAGG, Munchies, Techni-Glo and M/G. Lindy is one of the oldest and largest independent manufacturers of recreational sport fishing tackle and accessories in North America. The Company sells more than 4000 individual lures and accessory items through fishing tackle retailers throughout the US and Canada.

From Christy Benton:
Dear Sir,
I work with the Inshore Fishing Association Redfish Tour and we are planning to hold 6 to 7 events in Florida in 2006. I have had some contact with other outdoor writers in different states and thought it would be a good idea to contact all the states we will plan to be in. I will go ahead and attach our tournament information and if you think it would be of interest to anyone, please pass it on. We will be running a new and improved tournament this year. We really believe anglers can't go wrong with coming to fish with us. We will have 19 tournaments total for the 2006 year (two divisions will be in Florida). At EACH event 1st place prize will be a 2006 Ranger Banshee, fully rigged, and we guarantee 100% payback at the ramp. A short run-thru of the changes and advantages of fishing with us is: two-angler, one-day tournaments, low entry fee of $400, fish 3 events to qualify for the no-entry fee Championship where 1st place prize will be a 169 Ghost. If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact me directly. I am available any time.
