FOWA Scholarship for Outdoor Communicators

Think of what a boost you could give to some deserving college kid you knowÉ by helping them put their hands on a FOWA Scholarship.  All you have to do is encourage them to apply for it and endorse their application.  You’ll find details about the application and selection process on the FOWA website at www.fowa.org

FOWA Scholarships are competitive and open to students at Florida colleges and universities, or to any student whose application is endorsed by a FOWA member or a faculty advisor. FOWA Scholarships range from $500 to $1,000. Intended for students who have a passion for the outdoors, these awards are meant to motivate and encourage them to gear their college experience toward a career in outdoor communications.

So what if you don’t have a son or daughter enrolled in a college journalism program? Maybe you know someone who grew up hunting and fishing and otherwise enjoying the great outdoors. Maybe your neighbor’s kid qualifies, or someone you know from church or Rotary or your offshore fishing club. Get the word out, and let them know about the opportunity for a FOWA Scholarship – a small part of the good work that FOWA does.

As you may already know the Federation of Fly Fishers is promoting the National Fly Fishing Expo in Lakeland on March 28-30, 2008.  see (www.nationalflyexpo.com)

I have arranged for outdoor writers with credentials who attend to be given a tour or fishing trip through the Polk County Sports group ( div. of Polk County Visitors Bureau) to promote their area.  If you could notify those wanting to attend please ask them to email me for more details.

I've included the latest press release for distribution.  Please help the Federation fulfill it's mission of promoting fly fishing for "All fish, All waters" by sending it to your members. The Federation knows the value of good relationships with FOWA and will continue to be of service whenever possible. You may contact me for any needs the writers have.
