UPDATE . . .
From previous FOWA Scholarship Award Winner Eric Zamora:
After recently spending 3 1/2 weeks photographing proposed wilderness in Washington, I returned to the evergreen state last week to attend the opening of the International Conservation Photography Awards exhibit in Seattle. An image of mine was awarded first place in the “environment at risk” category. This was my first professional award. The fact it was related to conservation awareness made it even more special. The image features a large logging machine in front of a freshly cut forest in British Columbia, Canada. The image is one of many featured in the ICP’s exhibit, hosted by the Museum of History and Industry in Seattle. The exhibit runs through October 12th. The opening ceremony was quick. After the awards were handed out, I went to dinner with Art Wolfe (creator of the ICP) other photographers who placed in the contest, and friends. While staying in Seattle, I spent two days photographing
in Mt. Rainier National Park (one day on my own and one day with three other photographers). My brief stay in Seattle was packed with things to do. As always, the people there made me feel at home, and I returned to Florida inspired.
