EIC Awards
Each year, at the fall conference, the FOWA “Excellence-in-Craft” (EIC) winners are announced. This coveted competition is between members who submit their work for judging in multiple categories. Entries are judged by independent industry-related communications professionals from around the country.

FOWA Excellence-in-Craft Awards Contest Guidlines
ELIGIBILITY: Only 2008 dues-paid (or Life) FOWA members. Members may submit up to two entries in any one category. Each entry can be only entered twice for all categories. You must have been paid for all entries. Each entry must have occurred between Jan. 1-Dec. 31, 2008.
Members must be present at the FOWA Annual Conference, in order to win and accept their cash prize(s).
PRINT ENTRIES: Submit one original tear sheet with name, byline and date clearly shown. Submit a second copy with identifying byline info removed. Do not send complete magazines or newspaper sections.
BOOK ENTRIES: Submit one unaltered copy that clearly shows the date of publication.
ELECTRONIC MEDIA: Submit one copy of VHS, DVD or audiotape with letter from station manager as proof of broadcast. In case of a web site, send web address.
DEADLINE: Entries must be postmarked by May 15, 2009. FOWA is not responsible for submissions lost or delayed in transit. Late entries will be refused and returned to sender.
TO ENTER: Clearly fill out the entry form for each entry. Attach a completed copy of the form with a paper clip to the appropriate entry. Include one check for the total amount made out to “FOWA” for $10 for each entry.

1. Magazine Feature,
2. Newspaper Feature (to include Outdoor Column as well, min. 3 columns)
3. Article Series (one subject covered in two or more segments; include all segments),
4. Photography (color, b & w, all mediums),
5. Photojournalism (must include four or more photos that illustrate a story),
6. Electronic Media (radio, TV, videotapes, film, etc.),
7. Book,
8. Travel/destination Story,
9. Conservation Story,
10. Family Participation,
11. Special Communication (flyers, illustrations, PR materials, brochures, etc.),
12. Humor (article, video, cartoon, book, etc.),
13. Web site (submit web site address and printed hard copy of front page),
Entries may be picked up at the fall conference following the EIC Awards Banquet. Unless otherwise arranged, entries not picked up at the conference will be thrown away.
1st Place each category: $100 plus award
2nd Place each category: $50 plus award
3rd Place each category: $25 plus award
