FOWA Scholarship Applications Due May 13, 2013

Applications are now being accepted for the FOWA Scholarship. FOWA Scholarships are competitive and open to students at Florida colleges and universities whose career goals are to communicate to the public a love and appreciation for hunting, fishing and other aspects of the outdoor experience. Scholarships range from $500 to $1,000. Applications are due TODAY by 5:00 EST, May 13, 2013.  Sorry, applications are closed. Complete submission details are on the FOWA scholarship page.

Welcome to the Florida Outdoor Writers Association — FOWA is one of the nation’s oldest and largest outdoor communicators’ organization.

In the spring of 1945, Rube Allyn, then a nationally known outdoor editor of the St. Petersburg Times, was in Chattanooga, TN. attending the Outdoor Writers Association of America convention. He was lobbying OWAA to have the next convention in Florida, but was told he needed a state association before the group would consider the offer. Allyn returned, determined that Florida would host in 1946.
